Our Coaching Program Outlined

How does the coaching program work and what can the sessions do for you and your dog?

Dogs and humans are two very different species . Our coaching services help bridge the gap between those two worlds. We help people understand dog psychology (how dogs think) so that they can improve the relationship with their dog and provide a happy and balanced life to their four legged companion. After practicing these techniques clients of Dog Day Afternoon find that not only are they able to meet the needs of their dogs and overcome any behavioral issues; but that they also have a better understanding of how their dog thinks and reacts to the world. Our customers discover that after learning more about dog psychology and practicing our easy to follow techniques that their bond between both animal and human is strengthened. As a result, they experience a more happy and balanced relationship together.

What do you focus on during each session?

We help dog owners identify the challenges they are facing and show them how to implement solutions based on the results we’ve achieved in the past as dog owners and currently with our existing clientele. Some clients chose to focus on correcting unwanted behaviors/issues they are experiencing with their dog. Some examples include (but not limited to); mastering the walk, correcting aggression, excessive barking, possessiveness, dominance, and learning how to implement boundaries. There are others who want to expand their knowledge and use these coaching sessions as learning seminars. We cover a variety of topics like; how to train a puppy, feeding rituals, claiming rituals and psychological challenges and/or games for their dog.

Essentially all sessions (regardless of the specific issue at hand), focus on how to train YOU on becoming a leader in the relationship with your dog. It is quite common for people to focus on what their dog is (or isn’t) doing all the while forgetting to realize the impact their own energy and body language have in influencing their dog’s behavior. We assist our clients in getting in touch with their instinctual side to help them understand the animal world and accomplish balance in their dog.

By the end of each session you will have learned a great deal about yourself and your dog as well as being given a new roadmap to success.

How long does each coaching session last?

Private sessions are approx 90-120 minutes in length. Your first session includes a 20 minute consultation where we can get to know each other and what you would like to accomplish. We talk about the issues you are facing and what goals you would like to achieve in our time together. In each session you will learn and implement hands on techniques to help correct unwanted behaviors as well as being given tools to assist you and your dog’s rehabilitation. Some sessions will come with structured homework exercises to practice and track your progress for our future follow up sessions together. At anytime between sessions you have access to email correspondence with your coach so you never have to feel alone or overwhelmed when learning this new style of training. Remember, we want you to succeed!

What is the key to achieving your goals?

Awareness is only half of the transformation process, without it there can be no possibility for change. The other half is through the willingness to change followed by the necessary actions to provoke the change desired.

Awareness combined with willingness and action = transformation.
It’s not about doing things perfectly, it’s about doing them consistently!

See what our clients are saying….

Our clients are raving fans because they see the benefits instantaneously after utilizing our services. Here is one example:

“Andrea I wanted to thank you for the training sessions we had with you and our 2 dogs. It was fabulous to have you come to our home and deal with our “issues” one on one. Your sensitivity and respect towards our young children in teaching them how to deal with a new puppy in the house was phenomenal. You provided our daughter with all the tools she needed to get the puppy to stop nipping her in playful excitement. I never realized how important it was to re-train the old (11 year old) dog as well. We have worked with a few different dog trainers, but our sessions with you have definitely proved to be the most valuable of all. I am so happy we chose to do one on one training, you got right to the heart of our issues, both ours and the dogs’! Thanks again for everything. I recommend you to everyone I meet now!”
- D. Hogan, dog owner and Dog Day Afternoon client.
